I am utterly devastated by the total lack of material on this film on the web. Something must be done! For a start I need some pics for this page. I'm sure you all know Interview With the Vampire also by Neil Jordan, but this film is far more interesting and doesn't have Tom Cruise in it (so I don't like him very much, sue me). It is very like Labyrinth in both appearance and theme only darker. In fact Rosaleen's sister may remind you a lot of Sarah. The dream theme we have in Labyrinth is echoed as the story starts when Rosaleen falls asleep with her face madeup with lipstick and such. She dreams her sister is chased through a forest by the toys in Rosaleen's room come to life and is finally caught be wolves. Rosaleen's family now lives in a village that would not look out of place in the Fieries forest.

The story is based loosely around the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale with Rosaleen as Little Red Riding Hood and Angela Lansbury as her grandmother. There are several tales interspersed throughout as the Grandmother and Rosaleen tell us stories about werewolves.

This is a horror movie but I don't think it's especially frightening and the werewolf effects have dated somewhat. Angela Lansbury is very good in it.

Cast

Grossed $42.365m (USA). Filmed in the UK at Shepperton Studios, Shepperton, Surrey and on location at Raglan Castle, Gwent, Wales. Won the President's Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Films, USA in 1982. Some of the music was done by Trevor Jones, the guy who did the Labyrinth soundtrack. George Harrison of the Beatles also worked on the film.

I am also utterly devastated by the total lack of material on this film on the web. Something must be done! This is a very funny film with that British dark twist that so few American movies can match, especially childrens movies as this is. Brought to us by many of The Monty Python team you should expect something unusual.

It mirrors Labyrinth in the dream aspect of it and also in that parts of Kevins adventures are mirrored in his bedroom. He is reading a book about ancient Greeks, the knight on his wall and also the theatre model in his room matches the theatre in the first Napoleon scene.

Nominated for an Oscar in 1987 for Best Makeup. There are at least three different versions of this picture: the original european release (94 min), the american theatrical release (89 min) and a network TV version (94 min). The film grossed $15.502m (USA). The US release was on 16 January 1986. Shot in the UK at Pinewood Studios.

Lily with Unicorn A fantasy film that seems to appeal to the same people who like Labyrinth. But for me I can take it or leave it. Perhaps it's cause I just never got the hang of fancying Tom Cruise. Perhaps it's because Darkness is too far down the monster side to fancy and I always preferred Tim Curry in the RHPS. Perhaps it's cause it got edited to death by various people. But it is a nice film and I really ought to watch it again. haven't seen it in ages. Didn't realise it was British till I read the IMDb entry.

I don't know if this is my favourite Disney movie but it's the only one I own. In my opinion the whole Jareth/Sarah thing strongly mirrors Beauty and the Beast style fairy tales. Also this is a musical like Labyrinth and I think the soundtrack is very good. I also liked The Little Mermaid a lot.

This is an utterly brilliant movie, I've loved it since I was a little girl. It is a musical and the songs are wonderful. I especially love the song Cinderella sings when she's leaving and the song the Prince and John sing in the tomb. Oh, and the protocol song. Anyone who likes romantic fairytales and musicals should like this.

It's very silly and I like it a lot. So there. Rik Mayall is utterly fab. Will Labyrinth fans like it? Depends. The ones who liked the bog of eternal stench and the fight in the goblin city probably will. It is sort of a coming of age film although the lead is well past the age. Elizabeth has allowed her childish relationship with her mother (who terrifies her) bleed into allowing her cheating husband to walk all over her. Luckily her childhood invisible friend makes a return to allow her to overcome her fears and grow up properly.

A favourite of mine when I was younger, these days I have read Mists of Avalon too often to fully appreciate this. However it is bound to be enjoyed by those into the romantic, adventurous and fae side of Labyrinth.

Won the 1995 MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance (Kirsten Dunst). Tied for Razzie Award for Worst Screen Couple (Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt) with Stallone/Stone. Shot on location in London, San Francisco, Louisiana and Paris. Filmed in Pinewood Studios (UK). Grossed $221.3m (worldwide).

Nine times out of ten, a women who can't resist Jareth is also a sucker for a vampire. Me... I always wanted Val Kilmer to play Lestat. I mean the man was sex incarnate as Jim Morrison. Brad Pitt was brill though and I forgive them the complete rewrite on Armand since Antonio Banderas is so talented. God knows if they'd stuck with the original we might have had Leonardo diCaprio and I'm not convinced that would have worked. But when it comes down to it the film is, in my eyes, just a fun accompaniment to the books (the first two anyway, the later ones were shaky) and the fanfic.

How can you not love this film? Shame Cary Elwes has never managed to be so sexy since and Buttercup was a bit annoying. Obvious similarities in the book theme, Labyrinth being a book or play that Sarah was reading.

Val Kilmer... can we say "Woof!" That aside an amusing bit of silliness.
